The meeting was moderated by the General Director of Expocentre, Chairman of the RF CCI Committee for Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs Sergey Bednov. In his opening remarks, he called the historical decree of the Mayor of Moscow dated September 4, on the full resumption of congress and exhibition activities in the capital in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological safety. On behalf of the Moscow exhibition community, Mr. Bednov thanked the Department for its contribution to the preparation of this document.
According to Alexei Fursin, the resumption of exhibitions and congresses is a landmark event, since this industry covers not only exhibition companies but also practically the entire business that shows and promotes its products at exhibitions. Exhibitions are also platforms for negotiations between representatives of all types of businesses - small, medium, and large.
In the discussion took part Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt RUS LLC Eugen Alles, Andrey Zhukovsky, General Director of RussKom-IT Systems LLC, Sergey Selivanov, Director of the Department of Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities of the RF CCI, Alexander Shtalenkov, General Director company MVK.
Representing one of the largest European exhibition companies, Eugen Alles spoke about the support measures taken by the German government at the federal and regional levels for exhibitors: "In Germany, where the exhibition industry has a large share of GDP, the government has always supported the participation of companies in international trade fairs. This support is especially important for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. The current situation has made adjustments - the AUMA and the Land Chambers of Commerce have increased the amount of support to 50% and 60%, respectively. Having started an active export promotion of its goods, the Chinese government subsidizes up to 90% of the costs of companies."
In turn, Alexey Fursin spoke in detail about the measures taken by the Government of Moscow to support exhibiting companies in the capital region with compensation for their costs of participation in exhibition and congress events in Russia and abroad - up to 50% and 70%, respectively. Mr. Fursin noted that the application for each subsidy must be documented with a cost structure. At the same time, he announced the readiness to conduct a dialogue on optimizing and simplifying the procedures for submitting the necessary documents.
The participants underlined the importance of such compensatory support measures for domestic producers, especially small and medium-sized businesses.
