New entry requirements for trade fairs participants from abroad

29 Oct 2020

The competitive advantage of German trade fairs is their internationality: around 60% of the approximately 180,000 exhibitors and almost 30% of the 10 million visitors each year come from abroad.

Due to the current travel restrictions, Association of the German Trade fair Industry (AUMA) advocates a swift opening of the German borders and reducing sanctions for foreign specialists in order to reopen international trade fairs.  According to new requirements for the applicants for business visa, Russian exhibitors and visitors of trade fairs in Germany are allowed to entry Germany after submitting supporting documents.

Currently, all applications are being processed in restricted mode and only in exceptional cases. In order to prove the purpose of the visit, following documents must be submitted additionally to standard visa documents:

·         for exhibitors – confirmation from the trade fair organizer;

·         for visitors – entry ticket and confirmation of a business meeting from at least one exhibitor.

Also, foreign citizens, entering Germany to participate in a trade fair, are excluded from the general quarantine obligation if a negative test result is provided.

In Germany, entry requirements may vary depending on the federal state and current epidemiological situation. You can find actual information on the websites:

At the moment, applications for German business visa are accepted only in VisaMetric visa center in Moscow and only by phone appointment: +7 495 990 89 79.

The list of standard business visa documents is here.
